Dean of Academic Administration and OutcomesNew York College of Podiatric Medicine

Dr. Alain Silverio’s background is as varied as his portfolio at NYCPM. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx, Dr. Silverio attended Georgetown University as an undergrad, achieving a BA with a major in theology and a minor in biology. He added an MA in theology from Union Theological Seminary and an EdM from Teachers College (at Columbia University). He has added an Educational Specialist degree from St. Peters University and has defended his dissertation, “The Relationship between Course Survey Components and Overall Course satisfaction” earning his EdD in Higher Education as well from St. Peters. He worked his way up to Associate Dean at Union Theological Seminary for 16 years and then moved to NYCPM in 2012 for the opportunity to bridge both outcomes and academic administration, first as Assistant to the Dean, then as Assistant Dean and currently Dean of Academic Administration and Outcomes. Dr. Silverio helps the academic program move forward; he sees himself as a liaison between the Academic Dean and various departments that support the academic mission. He sees his position as both reactive and proactive; his focus is on students, outcomes and as a liaison among many departments. He specializes in higher education administration, outcomes and assessment, accreditation, strategic planning, as well as Afro-Caribbean religions. He is the author of Santería, Espiritismo y Vudú en el Caribe (2023), translated by Juan Francisco Puello Herrera and based on the original thesis The Effect of Migration on Caribbean Religions with Emphasis on Santeria, Espiritismo and the Vudu’s of the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
