Joel A. Sturm is the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President for Administration for the New York College of Podiatric Medicine at Touro University and the Foot Center of New York. He is also a Director of Podia Insurance Ltd. Podia Insurance Ltd. is an offshore insurance captive that handles the College’s and Foot Center’s medical malpractice and professional liability coverage.
Mr. Sturm formerly served as Vice President at McMannamy-Brettler Insurance; a boutique insurance brokerage that handled hi-tech and bio-tech corporations. Prior to that position, he worked for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield in various positions such as marketing analyst, finance analyst and finally as a health care consultant where he worked on risk management issues for institutions of higher education, government and non-profit agencies and large commercial entities.
He received his Bachelor of Arts at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and did graduate coursework in marketing and management at Baruch College of the City of New York. Mr. Sturm attained his insurance license and earned his Certified Health Consultant certificate while working in risk management. He has been quoted in various publications including the NY Times regarding business related matters. He continues to consult on risk management.
