Below you’ll find the scholarships usually available to our students. Scholarships are for current students (not incoming) and we will email you information as it’s available and for those that are eligible, but this might give you an idea of what is possible, and what to strive for, as you plan financing you podiatric medical school experience.

ACPM Scholar Award

The ACPM Scholar Award is given to one 3rd or 4th year NYCPM student, as chosen by ACPM

How to apply: Research paper / presentation

Amount: $1000.

American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) Graduate Merit Award

Awarded to a 4th-year student based on academic excellence, outstanding professional conduct, and service to the community and the College.

How to apply: There is an ABPM application
When is it awarded: Spring
Amount: $2,000

American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery Michael L. Stone, D.P.M. Outstanding Professional Conduct Award

Awarded to a 4th year students for academic excellence and service to the community and the College, as well as focused interest in foot and ankle surgery. The winner receives the award at ACFAS in March.

APMA Educational Foundation Student Scholarship 

Given to 3rd or 4th year students, as chosen by APMA

Board of Trustees’ 2025 Award for Excellence in Leadership

Awarded to the 4th-year student who was most effective in student government, promoting the interests of the student body, the College and the podiatric profession. Student receives this award at graduation.

How to apply:  Scholarship committee chooses the awardee. There is no application.
Amount: $500

Bako Scholarship 

Awarded to the 2nd year student who achieves the highest score in the Pathology course at NYCPM.

How to apply: Scholarship Committee and Basic Sciences department choose the awardee. There is no application.
Amount: varies 

Dr. Abraham and Franchi Lavi Surgery Scholarship Award

Awarded at graduation to the 4th-year student who has demonstrated excellence in surgical skills

How to apply: Awardee is chosen by the Surgery department. There is no application.
Amount: $1000 each

Dr. Al Kanegis Scholarship #1

Awarded to a student from Long Island that can demonstrate active volunteerism for their house of worship, open to all religions. This scholarship is open to all students - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.

Dr. Al Kanegis Scholarship #2

Awarded to a student from Long Island and can demonstrate/explain how they have overcome an obstacle over the past 3 to 4 years and have been able to have continued success in school. This scholarship is open to all students - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.

How to apply: There is an NYSPMA – Nassau Division application

Amount: $500

Dr. Arthur Steinhart Scholarship 

Awarded to a 3rd or 4th year student who has excelled in the medicine rotation, shows need and who has a GPA of a B or greater. 

How to apply: Awardee is chosen by the Medicine department. There is no application.

Amount: $500

Dr. Bryan Markinson Scholarship

Awarded to a student who has demonstrated extraordinary interest in podiatric dermatology with special consideration given to an individual with published or publishable research projects in dermatology.

How to apply: Awardee is chosen by the Medicine department. There is no application.

Amount: $1000

Dr. Bruce Frankel Memorial Scholarship Award  

Awarded to a 4th year student by the NYCPM Alumni Association.

How to apply: Awardee is chosen by the Scholarship committee. There is no application.

Amount: $500

Dr. E. Giannin Perez Scholarship 

A 3rd year student in good academic standing exploring externships outside the New York area. 

How to apply: Awardee is chosen by Dr. Perez, based on application and interview.
When is it awarded: Spring
Amount: $1000

Dr. Elizabeth H. Roberts Award for Excellence and Empathy in Podopediatrics 

Awarded to a 4th year student that has excelled in the Podopediatrics rotation.

How to apply: Awardee is chosen by Dr. Volpe. There is no application.
When is it awarded: Spring
Amount: $500

Dr. Emil Rose Scholar Award 

Awarded at graduation to the students with the highest grade on the Capstone exam. 

How to apply: There is no application. The award is given to the students who received the highest scores on the Capstone exam at the end of 3rd year.
Amount: First place is $1500, second place is $1000, third place is $500.

Dr. Halina Semla-Pulaski Scholarship 

Awarded to an international student in good academic standing currently studying at NYCPM on an F1 visa. This scholarship is open to all years - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Dr. Irma Godoy Scholarship 

Awarded to a 3rd or 4th year student whose mother is of Hispanic or Latina descent with a minimum GPA – 3.2.

Dr. Israel Goldstein Scholarship 

Awarded to a 3rd year student who has “demonstrated academic excellence and service to the community and / or New York College of Podiatric Medicine.”

Dr. Kathleen Reilly-Fallon Scholarship

Awarded to a student active in community service / volunteer work. This scholarship is open to all years - 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th

Amount: $500

Dr. Leo S. Eannace Family Scholarship 

Awarded to a 4th year student who has demonstrated unusual abilities in the Podiatric Medicine rotation as well as compassion and an extraordinary degree of humanism. 

How to apply: Chosen by Dr. Adegboyega and the Medicine department. There is no application.

Amount: $500

Dr. Michael J. Valletta Award 

Awarded to a 4th year student who “goes the extra mile” for his / her fellow classmate despite any difficulties he /she may have in their personal lives.

How to apply: Chosen by the scholarship committee. There is no application.

Drs. Nicholas, Barnes, Donaldson-Bailey Scholarship Fund 

Awarded to two incoming 1st year female students of African American or Caribbean/Caribbean descent.

Amount: one award is $1000 and the other is $500

Dr. Patricia A Blount-Brown Memorial Scholarship 

Awarded to a current 3rd year minority female student with a minimum GPA of 3.2; previous nursing background preferred; involved in extracurricular activities/student organizations/community service and has a strong commitment to serving others.

Dr. Paul Liswood award 

Awarded to either a 2nd or 3rd year student involved in the Student Ambassador program.

Dr. Steven Levitz Scholarship 

Awarded to 3rd year students based on their performance in the Orthopedics rotation.

How to apply: Awardee is chosen by Dr. Logan and the orthopedics department. There is no application.

Awarded at graduation to 4th year students based on their performance in the Orthopedics rotation.

Dr. Susheel Bathla Scholarship 

Awarded to a South Asian female student. This scholarship is open to all years - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

J.T. Tai Scholars 

Awarded to 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students with a minimum GPA of 3.3. The students are selected based on academic performance, involvement at NYCPM and dedication to the podiatric profession.

Jerilyn and Gabe Caprio Scholarship  

Awarded to either a 2nd or 3rd year student that has made a positive contribution to NYCPM.

NYCPM Scholarship Award 

Awarded to the top five students per year (2nd,3rd,4th year students) with 3.7 GPA

NYSPMA Foundation for Podiatric Medicine Scholarship Award

Awarded at graduation by the New York State Podiatric Medical Association and the Foundation for Podiatric Medicine to the top four seniors, based upon academic excellence.

How to apply: There is no application, based on academic excellence.

NYSPMA Foundation for Podiatric Medicine Scholarship Award

Awarded by the New York State Podiatric Medical Association and the Foundation for Podiatric Medicine to the top three juniors (3rd year) and top three sophomores (2nd year) based upon academic excellence.

NYSPMA Queens Division Poster Scholarship 

Awarded to the 1st prize recipient (3rd year) in the Poster Presentation 

When is it awarded: Spring
Amount: $1500

NYCPM Poster Scholarship 

Awarded to the 2nd and 3rd place winners of the poster presentation

When is it awarded: Spring
Amount: $750 for 2nd place and $500 for 3rd place.

NYSPMA Queens Division Scholarship 

Awarded to a senior (4th year) student who plans to stay in NY to train and who has accomplished outreach in their community

Patricia Ellsworth Kopenhaver, B.A., M.A., D.P.M. Endowed Scholarship 

Awarded to a 2nd, 3rd, 4th year student who is a member of the AAWP and who has demonstrated involvement in the profession and community.

Amount: $1,000

President's Award for Academic and Clinical Excellence  

Awarded at graduation to the 4th-year student who has demonstrated the highest all-around clinical excellence, based on all aspects of clinical education.

President's Award for Excellence in the Pre-Clinical Sciences

Awarded at graduation to the 4th-year student with the highest scholastic standing in the pre-clinical years.

How to apply: There is no application. Awardee is chosen by pre-clinical faculty based on above criteria.

Rabbi Ephraim H. Sturm Scholarship 

Awarded to a 2nd, 3rd, 4th student who has a B in ethics course, shows financial need and has done community service / volunteering activities.

Salutatorian 

Awarded at graduation, the salutatorian receives a $500 award

Shiveena Thapar Legacy Scholarship 

Awarded to a 2nd, 3rd and 4th year student who is active in their local community, NYCPM, church / places of worship.

Amount: $1000 each for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year student

Sidney Solid Award (3rd year)

Awarded to two 3rd year students who have shown positive accomplishments and service to the podiatric community including community service, research, service to the college, excellent clinical skills and overall general excellence.

Steven Seifer Memorial Scholarship 

This is awarded to the top three sophomores (2nd year).

When is it awarded: Spring (after 2nd semester)

Stuart Salles Scholarship 

This scholarship is open to all students – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th year who are officers in student government.

How to apply: Recipients are chosen by the Scholarship Committee.

Amount: $500 each

Student Service Award (2nd and 3rd year) 

Awarded to two students in their 2nd or 3rd year.

How to apply: There is no application. Your classmates vote on the winner.

Student Service Award (4th year)

Awarded by the 4th year class to a fellow student who best advanced podiatric medicine.

Sue Gudeon Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to an officer of Student Government in all classes. This includes Student Government and Class Officers including President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and APMSA delegate. This award is open to all years - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

Suffolk County Podiatric Medical Association Scholarship 

Awarded to a student who shows strong commitment to the field of Podiatric Medicine and is active at NYCPM and their local community. This scholarship is open to all years - 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.

Valedictorian

Awarded at graduation, the valedictorian receives a $1000 award.

William Ward Scholarship 

Awarded to a 4th year student who has excelled and has exemplified what it means to be a student leader.
