Dr. Sharon R. Barlizo is a dedicated figure in the field of podiatric medicine, known for her expertise in wound care and commitment to community health. Currently serving as the Wound Care Director at the Foot Center of New York and a Professor in the Podiatric Medicine Department, Dr. Barlizo has dedicated her career to clinical excellence and educational leadership.

Dr Barlizo’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, specializing in Athletic Therapy, from Concordia University. This foundation in exercise science led her to pursue a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Barlizo then completed her residency training at a combined program between New York Methodist Hospital and Wyckoff Medical Center, before finishing her surgical training at Cabrini Medical Center.

In 2004, Dr. Barlizo joined the faculty of New York College of Podiatric Medicine, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of podiatric physicians. Her leadership extends beyond academia; she serves as Chief of Podiatry at Morrisania, NYC Health+Hospitals/Gotham Health, while maintaining active clinical roles at Lincoln Medical Center, Harlem, and Metropolitan Hospital.

Dr. Barlizo's academic and clinical interests are diverse, with a particular focus on diabetic neuropathy, wound care, dermatology, and rheumatology. She is deeply committed to humanitarian efforts, regularly participating in medical missions to underserved communities worldwide. Her dedication to improving global health disparities underscores her belief in accessible healthcare for all.

Throughout her career, Dr. Barlizo has continued to contribute to podiatric medicine and healthcare education.
