Setting Sail with the New Class at NYCPM
On a Cruise around New York’s Harbor, Six Students Talk about How They Came to Podiatric Medicine
September 08, 2026
On a bright summer day in New York Harbor, members of the incoming class of 2030 at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) got to know one another away from the classroom. With food and drinks on board, the students cruised past the Manhattan skyline and around the Statue of Liberty, taking in the city that will be home for the next four years. The students arrived at NYCPM by very different routes—from Long Island and Queens to California and Georgia, and from backgrounds in neuroscience, biology, healthcare administration, music and medical offices. During the cruise, six members of the incoming class talked about what brought them to podiatric medicine, their lives outside the classroom and what they hope to find at NYCPM.
